Dr Dortimer graduated in medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1970 and went onto specialise in cardiology. He trained in cardiology at Pennstate University Medical Centre in 1977 before returning to practice in Melbourne in 1979.

Dr Alcock has undertaken two Interventional Cardiology Fellowships, both locally and internationally. He has published and presented research in local, national, and
international forums and journals. Inclusive of his current role of Interventional Cardiologist at Royal Perth Hospital WA, he is the Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, Director of the Interventional Fellowship training program, and Director of the Complex Coronary Intervention Program.
As a procedural cardiologist (Interventional Cardiology), Dr Alcock has a strong working knowledge, both theoretical and practical, in coronary angiography and revascularisation strategies related to coronary artery disease.
