Ms Helen Parkyn

Helen Parkyn is an Occupational Therapist with more than 26 years’ clinical experience and 22 years working in the disability sector. She has experience as an independent expert witness in NDIS ART, medical negligence and personal injury matters, providing opinions on functional capacity, care needs, accommodation requirements, complex assistive technology and home modifications.

Helen works with children and adults who have physical impairments, developmental and intellectual disabilities, and executive dysfunction including those with functional impairments arising from acquired brain injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, autism, sensory impairment and amputations.

She is able to provide expert opinion to contribute to decision making for Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), complex assistive technology and equipment prescription, home modifications and high-level support needs assessments. Helen has particular interest in complex disability presentations. Drawing upon years of clinical and supervisory experience, and advanced written communication skills, Helen’s reports bring clarity to complex cases.
