He is a Specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist of 39 years' experience in both private and public practice. He spent 30years in private metropolitan practice with a large patient following in general Gynaecology and general obstetrics. He has had a widely diverse experience not only in general obstetrics and gynaecology but also reproductive endocrinology research, laparoscopic surgery, male and female fertility, male fertility surgery, fertility preservation in oncology and trans gender adolescents, preterm labour, ethics of research and donor embryos and gametes. For the last few years, he has worked as a senior consultant in clinical obstetrics and gynaecology in a rural health unit. He is on a number of committees in the public system Including the Maternity Neonatology and Gynaecology Community of Practice of SA Health and is currently Chairman of the Perinatal Practice Guidelines committee of SA health.
He is passionate about maintaining standards of care and patient safety while at the same time being supportive of midwives and colleagues given the unpredictable nature of obstetrics and gynaecology. He Is a Review Member of the Southern Adelaide Human Research Ethics committee and a team leader for the Prevention of Preterm Labour Initiative. He Is a Training Supervisor, Medical Examiner and Member of the Expert Witness Panel of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
