Dr Joel Steiner is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon with comprehensive experience across spinal trauma, tumour, degenerative and deformity surgery. He completed dual Fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), followed by advanced subspecialty spine training at two of the worldu2019s leading centresu2014Royal North Shore Hospital (Sydney) and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (London).nnDr Steineru2019s international fellowship in London focused on complex spinal tumour surgery, degenerative spinal conditions, and major spinal deformity correction under globally recognised mentors Mr Robert Lee, Mr Hanny Anwar and Mr John Afolayan. His additional spine fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital provided high-volume experience in acute spinal trauma, including spinal cord injury, multi-trauma, spinal infection and advanced degenerative surgery.
He is accredited at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital, and continues to contribute to spine care through research, publications and national teaching roles. Dr Steiner has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, presented at national and international scientific meetings, and is actively involved in ongoing clinical research spanning spinal oncology, surgical technique optimisation and patient outcomes.
Dr Steiner has a strong commitment to education and quality improvement. He is a facilitator within the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s training program, a clinical examiner and interviewer for surgical selection processes, and a participant in key quality and safety committees including CHASM and the Northern Sydney Hip Fracture Steering Committee.
